Evangelism

Evangelism Commission

According to the Mohican Church of the Brethren Constitution and By-Laws, the primary focus of the Evangelism Commission is the Great Commission which is found in Matthew 28:18-20, "...therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you..."  The secondary focus is derived from James 2 which challenges us to live what we believe.  The Commission is to assist the congregation in presenting the gospel to everyone, therefore, expanding God's kingdom and bringing glory to Him.

On the first Sunday of the month, a Carry-In lunch is held after the morning worhsip.  This provides a wonderful opportunity to welcome new attenders and visitors to our church.

Outreach ministries include:  Annual Hog Roast, held in August; Fall Renewal Services, held in November; Wild Game Dinner, held in April; Disaster Relief, outreach projects.

Nurture

Nurture Commission

Nurture - foster: help develop, help grow; The act of nourishing or nursing; tender care; education; training; That which nourishes.

In a nutshell the above definitions speak to the responsibilities of the Nurture Commission.  But how do we do that?  There are several oppotunities available throughout the week either at the church or offiste to participate in studies or classes designed to foster spiritual growth.  We also offer Sunday school classes for all ages Sunday morning.

While we believe that an individual's relationship to God is an ongoing daily affair, we also see the wisdom of meeting together in "community" for mutual accountability and the greater understanding that comes from sharing together around the Word.

Stewardship

Stewardship Commission

The Stewardship Commission has the responsibility of maintaining the church grounds and the church parsonage.  Many duties include:  regular maintinance, painting when needed, replacing fixtures, etc.  Our goal is to make sure our House of Worship is ready for worship at all times.  We are committed to the work our Father has called us to.

Witness Commission

Witness Commission

The responsibility of the Witness Commission is to foster the spiritual life of the congregation through corporate worship, to encourage individuals to offer their talents for Christ's service and to reach out through worship for Christ.  This means that we oversee the worship services, their content, and those invlolved (musicians, worship leaders, sound crew, video crew, ushers, choristers, special music, choir, children's story).
